Herring are already
showing up on the Cape, and this event reminded me of young Brayshaw's very first article on The Angler's Culvert. It's been a number* of years since these early works, and I wanted to recount
this one, about the cycle and about herring. I'm sure readers will agree -- it's a bobby dazzler.

I dig. I used to fish out of Chatham most of May and all of October every year before the big move south. I miss it. Herring rock.
ReplyDeleteThat's sort of depressing to read. Why did you post that, Jonny?
ReplyDeleteBecause it's good shit, and herring rock. You miss them; we understand, old chap.

Now I feel guilty for eating all those pounds of pickled herring. I remember being mesmerized by a creek full of herring in Cape Cod sometime around 1983.
ReplyDeleteI was born that year. You know what they say: if you remember the 80s you probably weren't there.
DeleteNo you weren't, and no they don't.
ReplyDeleteA bobby dazzler for sure.
